Welcome to My Journey

Welcome to My Journey

Get Motivated

Get Motivated

Get motivated to get fit.

I don’t know about you, but I need to get motivated to get to the gym.  I have a membership to Planet Fitness which I feel is a really good gym for a price you cannot beat.  It is less than 5 minutes away from my house, however, lately, I find it hard to get there.  I think it is because once I get home, I do not want to leave.  Especially in this unusually cold weather, we have been having in Florida.  Or I will make up an excuse like it is already too late in the day, or if my husband can’t go, I don’t like to go without him.  Also, I would absolutely love to work out first thing in the morning.  In order to do that, I would have to get up at 4 A.M.  So that is not going to happen.  My gym is open at that time and I am sure people do it, but not me.  Maybe one day, but not anytime soon.  So I work out after work.  After 4 P.M.  Am I alone here?  Excuses are easy to find, motivation, not so much!  SO LET’S GET MOTIVATED!!

Here are some things we can do together to get into gear!

Find Something To Work For

Think about what exciting events you have coming up soon.  Maybe there is a wedding coming up that you want to workout for.  Maybe a beach trip that will require a bathing suit.    Sign up for a 5k or some kind of event that you need to be in shape to do.

Create Goals

For me, I know I need to work on finding my abs and work on my thighs and butt.  So I am going to use a planner to help me reach my goal.  Along with your goal, you can set a timeline to help keep you going. If you don’t reach your goal by the end of your timeline, no worries, be flexible.  Move your timeline back a bit more and try again. Journaling your progress might help also.  This way you can see where you started and get results.

Find a Routine

Find a workout that works for you and stick with it.  It does not need to be as much as this one here in the picture, but it can be.  When my husband and I were training for out Titan Run, we found a training workout online.  When we got to the gym, we knew what we were doing.  After a couple weeks, we changed it to focus on something different.

Do It For You!

Think about how great that feeling is after a workout.  Well, not right away while you are hobbling to the car, but maybe after the shower.  Work out to feel good and have more energy.

Find A Buddy

Working out with a buddy is helpful.  It is good to help keep each other accountable.  I like having group challenges on Facebook so we can see who is doing what, and make sure I do it too.  If your buddy can’t make it a day, we still need to find our way.  Even just going for a walk around your neighborhood with someone is a great exercise.

Challenge Each Other

Make a bet that by a certain time whoever reaches their goal, wins.  I know a lot of competitive people out there, that if they were challenged, they would step it up to do what it takes to win.

Set A Playlist.

Listening to music is a great way to help you get in the mood.  Create an awesome playlist to get you going.  Just try not to sing out loud.

Be Prepared

(Are you singing the song?) Since I know once I get home it is hard for me to leave, I need to bring my gym clothes to work, change before I leave and go from there.  Especially if my husband can’t go with me.  For those of you who can work out in the morning, my sister in law likes to wear her workout clothes to bed, that is one less step in the morning.

You’ve Got to Have a Plan

Plan out your week so you know what days you can work out.  I like to use my weekly work out planner.  (You can download it here.) http://theconscienceliving.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Workout-Planner.pdf

If you do not belong to a gym, you can always work out at home.  All of these ideas can be done in the comfort of your own home. If you do belong to a gym and you can’t make it for some reason, you can find something to do at home.  There are so many great workouts you can find on YouTube or anywhere else on the World Wide Web.  There are also some great apps that give you a work out of the day and gets harder as time goes on.  This challenge I found on Pinterest:

I am starting this on Monday, January 8th. This will be very helpful on days I can’t make it to the gym.  Now you know, keep me accountable.  I have more 30-day challenges on my Pinterest board: Fitness Ideas https://www.pinterest.com/conscienceliving/fitness-ideas/

Just always remember, this is all for you.  If you miss a day, make it up.  Do not give up.  Research says it takes 3 weeks to make something into a habit.  Remember how good we will feel!

I would love to know what motivates you.  If you are trying one of my ideas, let me know how it goes. You’ve got this!
